Research Assistants are normally students, in a University of Winnipeg undergraduate program, employed to assist with tasks related to research. Work is performed within defined guidelines and under supervision of a more senior researcher or faculty member.
Position Overview:
As a Research Assistant, you are a key player in our team. You will work under the general supervision or direction of more senior researchers or faculty members. You are expected to exercise judgment in prioritizing, planning and organizing your work within defined parameters and deadlines.
The selected candidate should demonstrate planning and analytical skills (quantitative and qualitative data), writing skills, preferably with research and field experience, interest in public safety work, excellent work ethics, and experience working on confidential projects. The Research Assistant will work on several projects related to public safety personnel's wellness in Canada and the United States.
Duties:
- Assist with interview guide and survey design, interviewing, survey data analysis, managing transcripts (organizing, archiving), coding transcripts, designing research participant recruitment materials, updating project website.
- Keep confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- Must have strong communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, willingness to learn, good writing skills, numeric literacy (be able to interpret and understand descriptive statistics), and good work ethic (work hard, be reliable and accountable, be punctual).
- Attention to detail and positive communication skills via email and telephone will be required.
- Must have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and basic website navigation.
- Able to work independently.
- Able to work as part of a research team.
- Previous research experience, whether degree-based or as an R.A. would be an asset.
Condition(s) of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
The period of work will be from December 9, 2024 - May 31, 2025 and the estimated total hours of work will be 0-240 hours.
