Research Assistants are normally students, in a University of Winnipeg undergraduate program, employed to assist with tasks related to research. Work is performed within defined guidelines and under supervision of a more senior researcher or faculty member.

Position Overview:

The University of Winnipeg Personality Laboratory is hiring a research assistant to contribute to our SSHRC-funded research program on the psychology of everyday sadism. This position is an excellent opportunity for an Honours Psychology student at the University of Winnipeg.

Duties:

  • Assist in data collection, data entry, analysis and interpretation
    • schedule participant visits and keep track of participation numbers
    • run participants through lab experiments
  • Perform routine clerical and administrative duties to support research activities
    • type letters and other documents, proofread documents, photocopy references, organize files and keep lab records, and prepare meeting notes, among other duties
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications:

  • BA (Hons) student in Psychology at the University of Winnipeg.
  • Completion of PSYC-4100 Research Design and Data Analysis.
  • Software: Microsoft suite of programs, SPSS, Qualtrics, Sona.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Respect and appreciation for diversity.

Condition(s) of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

The period of work will be from January 21, 2025 - March 31, 2025 and the estimated total hours of work will be 0-100 hours.
