Research Assistants are normally students, in a University of Winnipeg undergraduate program, employed to assist with tasks related to research. Work is performed within defined guidelines and under supervision of a more senior researcher or faculty member.

Position Overview:

This position would involve various research activities associated with a longer term project tracking the use of Facebook and Instagram advertisements for political communication related to climate policy, energy development, and related issues.

Duties:

  • Research design for content analysis.
  • Test coding to gain intercoder reliability for content analysis.
  • Coding of Facebook Ads for content analysis.
  • Analysis of results.
  • Reading and writing for literature review related to the research.
  • Writing up and publishing results.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years in a relevant humanities or social sciences program (ideally Rhetoric and Communications, though related fields such as Sociology, English, Political Science, and others would also be suitable).

Condition(s) of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

The period of work will be from December 1, 2024 - March 31, 2025 and the estimated total hours of work will be 0-150 hours.
