Responsibilities:

  • Create and record levels, and cues for: lighting, sound, and projection.
  • Play back recorded cues either by direction, or through the use of a marked document (script).
  • Assist in adjusting “stock” space set-up based on the needs of each client, and the event summary produced and distributed by the Production Coordinator of the Department.
  • May be responsible for unlocking and relocking building and rented spaces.
  • Monitor venue for temperature and air pressure levels.
  • Monitor renter supplied workers in the enforcement of previously established safety regulations.
  • In the event of an emergency, enforces previously established safety regulations and procedures.
  • May be required to perform minor repairs to lighting or sound equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of: THFM-2801 or THFM-3801 within the last 5 years would be an asset.
  • One year of directly related experience and/or familiarity with theatre and film equipment.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to take on a leadership role.
  • Experience working with QLab, ETC Ion lighting console, ROSCO I-Cue Mirrors, LED theatrical lighting fixtures, DMX controlled colour scrollers, digital sound consoles, and other similar equipment.

An equivalent combination of education, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.

Condition(s) of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Ability to work day, evening, and/or weekend shifts.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting (e.g. 20 lbs. lighting equipment).
  • May be required to work at moderate heights (lighting catwalk at 17’).
